To ensure the best possible protection, this estate is not usually open to visits.
The area, sub-divided into two districts named Maso Fratton and Valaia, on the edge of the Parco del Brenta nature reserve, is made all the more precious by the fact that it is frequented by the surviving brown bears of the South Tyrol. FAI responded to the requests made by a group of local naturalists and by Swiss expert Hans Roth, purchasing the land with the support of Bayer Italia, thereby eliminating the risk of inappropriate utilisation and offering a safe habitat and a welcome source of food to the bears. After a general clean-up operation carried out by the local WWF volunteers, the fruit trees, maize and oats soon recovered their original vigour.
